World Female Heavy Events Championship
Making Scottish History
Glenurquhart Highland Gathering and Games is delighted to host the first-ever World Female Heavy Events Championship, sanctioned by the Royal Scottish Highland Games Association—the governing body of Highland Games in Scotland.
After making history in 2025 as pioneers in promoting women within this traditional sport, we are proud to once again promise a championship weekend that competitors will never forget.
Championship Events:
9 lbs Putting the Shot
16 lbs Weight for Distance
13 lbs Scot’s Hammer
28 lbs Weight Over the Bar
Tossing the Caber
Rules of entry
Please ensure that when you enter, you disclose your personal best results in 2025/26 for each throwing event.
The championship will include a maximum of 10 competitors
This championship is sanctioned by RSHGA.
General Rules
Each competitor has three attempts in each event with the best of three to count.
In the interests of safety, the Judge has the right to disqualify any competitor who does not come up to the standard in any of the heavy events.
All competitors must appear and compete in a highland kilt. Please refer to RSHGA Rules
In all events, after normal competition is complete, the winner will be given the opportunity to attempt both ground and National records. They will be given one attempt for the ground record if not broken within the normal competition, and if successful, one further attempt for the National record.
Events are held under Royal Scottish Highland Games Association Rules.
Measurements will be taken from the centre of the trig to the nearest break of ground.
